The Maxx Macro system is more repeatable and reliable compared to the older system. Many of our customers use the MaxxMacro circle holder for grinding carbide and machining medical implants with great success.
When it comes to machining graphite, the MaxxMacro system provides sufficient clamping force to hold the material securely in place. If needed, you can create a slight flat on the graphite to enhance the grip.
In terms of using round graphite, we have found that transitioning to square saw-cut blanks and utilizing a pocket holder can lead to cost savings of up to 40% on graphite. Additionally, machining the round shape into the blank before creating the hex shape is a minor additional step that can ensure precise centering.
